1. China’s Charging Pile Market

According to China Business Intelligence Network, as of July 2024, alliance member units reported a total of 3.209 million public charging piles, an increase of 88,000 units from the previous month and a year-on-year growth of 45.2%. Among these, there are 1.431 million DC charging piles and 1.778 million AC charging piles. From August 2023 to July 2024, the average monthly addition of public charging piles was approximately 83,000 units.

As of July 2024, the top ten charging operators in China by the number of charging piles operated are as follows: Teld with 608,000 units, Star Charge with 564,000 units, Cloud Quick Charge with 538,000 units, State Grid with 196,000 units, Weijingyun with 174,000 units, Xiaoju Charging with 168,000 units, Southern Power Grid with 90,000 units, Shenzhen Vehicle Power Grid with 86,000 units, Huichong Charging with 83,000 units, and Evenergy with 77,000 units. These ten operators account for 80.5% of the total, while other operators account for 19.5%.

2. Overseas Charging Pile Data for 2023

Europe: By the end of 2023, Europe had approximately 750,000 charging points, with 84.4% being AC charging points and 15.5% being DC charging points. Type 2 connectors dominate Europe’s charging infrastructure, especially in AC charging points, where they account for nearly 75%.
North America: North America had about 250,000 charging points, with 77.3% being AC charging points and 22.7% being DC charging points. Tesla dominates the DC infrastructure market in North America.
Asia-Pacific (excluding China): The Asia-Pacific region, including Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, and Singapore, had about 23,000 charging points, with 66% being AC charging points and 34% being DC charging points.

3. Overseas Charging Pile Forecast for 2024

Europe: It is expected that by 2024, Europe’s electric vehicle charging infrastructure will exceed 1 million charging points. CCS2 connectors and destination chargers are anticipated to experience the highest growth in Europe.

North America: By 2024, North America is expected to have 360,000 charging points. The adoption of new technologies will significantly increase.
