4g industrial gateway wifi bridge mode

WIS901 4G Industrial Gateway is a high-performance industrial-grade communication device launched by Shenzhen Wisewish Technology. It is widely used in IoT scenarios such as smart factories, smart cities, self-service terminals, and smart monitoring. In actual deployment, WIS901 can flexibly provide WiFi access for on-site devices through bridge mode, mainly including the following two methods:

4g industrial gateway wifi bridge mode-Bridge Mode: 4G + WiFi AP

In this mode, the WIS901 connects to the Internet via a 4G network and simultaneously acts as a WiFi AP (Access Point), providing wireless access for nearby devices. The working principle is as follows:

  • The industrial gateway connects to the operator’s network through the 4G module, obtains a public or private IP, and enables data communication with the Internet or a private network.
  • At the same time, the gateway enables WiFi AP mode, broadcasts a WiFi signal (SSID), and on-site devices such as sensors and industrial computers can directly connect to the WiFi for data collection and reporting.
  • The gateway assigns IP addresses (DHCP) to connected devices and is responsible for data forwarding and protocol conversion.

In deployment scenarios without wired networks and only 4G signal available, the WIS901 connects via 4G and provides WiFi access for local devices, meeting the needs of wireless deployment and remote management.

  • Rapid network deployment, flexible installation
  • Suitable for environments without wired networks
  • Supports simultaneous access for multiple devices
4g industrial gateway wifi bridge mode-Repeater Mode: WiFi AP + STA

In repeater mode, the WIS901 functions as both a WiFi AP and STA (Station), enabling wireless signal extension:

  • STA side: WIS901 acts as a “wireless client,” connecting to an existing upper-level WiFi network (such as a factory main router or another AP).
  • AP side: WIS901 continues to broadcast its own WiFi signal for on-site devices to access.
  • All devices connected through the WIS901 can ultimately access the Internet or internal servers via the upper-level WiFi network.
  • This mode is a hybrid AP+STA mode where the gateway acts as a client to connect to the upper-level network while also serving as an access point for downstream devices.
  • Commonly used in scenarios requiring wireless relay, signal extension, or multi-level networking.
  • Where WiFi coverage exists but the signal is weak or there are dead zones, WIS901 can extend WiFi coverage as a repeater to ensure stable device connectivity.
  • Useful for aggregating local devices into a subnet and managing or uploading data uniformly through the upper-level WiFi.
  • Expands wireless coverage
  • Devices are in the same subnet for unified management
  • Supports protocol conversion and data aggregation

The WIS901 4G industrial gateway, through its bridge mode, can either provide WiFi access for on-site devices via the 4G network (4G + WiFi AP) or serve as a wireless repeater to extend an existing WiFi network (WiFi AP + STA). These two methods greatly enhance network flexibility and device accessibility in industrial environments, meeting the diverse networking needs of IoT deployments.
